REVIEW “ MAHABHARATA”

MAHABHARATA is television drama series from India based on the mythological Mahabharata. This drama series began airing in Starplus since 16th September 2013. In Indonesia this drama aired by ANTV since 17^th March 2014. This series is produced by Swastik Productions and starring by Saurabh Raj Jain as Krisna, Shaheer Sheikh as Arjuna, Pooja Sharma as Dropadi, and Arav Chowdhary as Bisma.

            Mahabharata tells the story of the throne of Hastinapura is a kingdom ruled by King Santanu. He has queen named goddess Ganga and his son Bisma. One day Santanu falling in love with a fisherman’s daughter named Setyawati. But Setyawati’s father would give her only if Santanu would enthrone his son from Setyawati as heir to the throne not Bisma. Knowing his father sad because it, Bisma surrender his right to the throne in Barata to Santanu’s son who was born of Setyawati. And he also promised not to marry in order not to get the child to inherit the throne Santanu.

            Marriage Santanu and Setyawati gave birth to two sons namely Citrnggada and Wicitrawirya. But they died in battle without leaving descendants of fear royal descent extinction, setyawati's daughters named ambika and Ambalika marriage with her son from another marriage named Wiyasa. his marriage with Ambika gave birth Destarata and Ambalika gave birth Pandu.

Destarasta married to Gandari and gave birth to 100 child who are called the Kurawa. While Pandu marriage to Kunti and Madrim gave birth to 5 child who are called Pandawa. Actually, Destarasta entitled to inherit the throne of his father but because he was blind from birth, the throne was later given to Pandu. This at a later become a source of disaster between Kurawa and Pandawa, in the competition to get the throne. Until finally broke his mighty war called Baratayudha that occurred during the 18 days that led to the disappearance of Kurawa.

            Advantages in this series is other than the handsome and beautiful player who make the spirit and not bored to be seen, this film also contained many social values, culture, and moral values. Drawback is the duration of the music more than the dialogue so for one episode that just tell a little storyline.

This movie is perfect views for all people especially for teenagers because there are moral values contained in this film as respecting family.
